Interim concept in times of Covid: Hazardous materials warehouse for an online perfume retailer

The challenge

A successful online supplier of perfumes and cosmetic products needs a new interim storage warehouse – initially for just one year to cover rapidly increasing consumer demand.

The project is very demanding because it has to meet the very highest safety requirements (WGK 3). What’s more, the warehouse is to be planned, implemented and commissioned in just three months during a time when the Covid-19 pandemic is rampant.

Our Solution

  • Targeted location search/analysis for a suitable logistics property
  • Lease negotiation/conclusion with a service provider
  • Rapid establishment of a PMO to manage all workstreams
  • Development of a feasible intralogistics concept
  • Coordination of all stakeholders for optimal implementation and efficient ramp-up

Benefits for the client

  • Strict adherence to the timeline (three months from kick-off to the go-live)
  • Precise fulfilment of all legal requirements for hazardous substance storage (water hazard class 3)
  • Cost-efficient creation of sufficient inventory capacities for one year
  • Smooth process handling without lead times or impact on consumers
  • Efficient transfer of learnings from the planning and ramp-up phase to live operation
